Question: Do I have to have a cell phone or purchase cell service as well as Bike GPS Tracking service?
Answer: No, Bike GPS Tracking provides a complete service including the GPS motorcycle tracking unit, software and network connectivity to the GPS motorcycle tracking unit. All you need is a PC or laptop with an Internet connection and a motorcycle to track!
Question: Is it difficult to install?
Answer: It is easy to install for somebody who is handy. The GPS motorcycle tracking unit needs to be secured (with zip ties) and the GPS antenna needs to be placed on a metal surface or connected with a direct view of the sky. The installation guide provides easy to follow instructions. Most customers are able to install the GPS motorcycle tracking unit in under a half-hour. If you are not particularly handy then most automotive garages or electronics retailers can install the GPS motorcycle tracking unit for around $45 to $75.
Question: How often does the Bike GPS Tracking GPS system locate my motorcycle?
Answer: Your motorcycle is located:
- every time motion is detected
- if the unit goes into sleep mode
- if the battery is low
- if the power is disconnected
- if you perform a locate
- 24 hours after the unit goes into sleep mode
- if a geofence alert occurs
Question: How many alert recipients are supported?
Answer: You can have 2 alert recipients for each device. A recipient may be either an email address or a cell phone number. If a recipient is a cell phone then the message will be delivered as SMS.
Question: Where will the Bike GPS Tracking GPS motorcycle tracking unit work?
Answer: The Bike GPS Tracking GPS motorcycle tracking unit will work in the US and Canada.
Question: What type of battery does the Bike GPS Tracking unit use? Will it drain my motorcycle battery?
Answer: The Bike GPS Tracking GPS motorcycle tracking unit connects to a 12 volt motorcycle battery. Power consumption averages 35mA when the unit is tracking. In sleep mode the tracking unit averages 1mA.
Question: What happens if my motorcycle is stolen and transported in a van or chopped in a shop? Will it be able to communicate with the GPS satellites?
Answer: If your motorcycle gets transported in a van or is in a location with a metal roof, the GPS tracking unit will have a difficult time communicating with the GPS satellite network. If the motorcycle does get moved from the van to another place, it will be able to communicate it's location.
Question: I installed the unit and both LED lights are on but I do not see my vehicle on the computer?
Answer: Once both lights are on you will need to drive at least 100 yards in order for the vehicle to show up on the map.
