Answer: No, BikeGPSTracking provides a complete service including the GPS motorcycle tracking unit, software and network connectivity to the GPS motorcycle tracking unit. All you need is a PC with an internet connection and a motorcycle to track!
Question: Is it difficult to install?
Answer: It is easy to install for somebody who is handy. The GPS motorcycle tracking unit needs to be secured (with zip ties) and the GPS antenna needs to be placed on a metal surface or connected with a direct view of the sky. The installation guide provides easy to follow instructions. Most customers are able to install the GPS motorcycle tracking unit in under a half-hour. If you are not particularly handy then most automotive garages or electronics retailers can install the GPS motorcycle tracking unit for around $45 to $75.
Question: How often does the BikeGPSTracking GPS system locate my motorcycle?
Answer: Your motorcycle is located every 30 minutes while it is in motion. Sometimes your motorcycle will be out of cellular coverage but you will still receive these locations when your motorcycle comes back into cellular coverage. However, there will be times when your device is hidden from GPS satellites so you will miss these locations but that should be infrequent.
Question: How many alert recipients are supported?
Answer: You can have 3 alert recipients for each device. A recipient may be either an email address or a cell phone number. If a recipient is a cell phone then the message will be delivered as SMS.
Question: Where will the BikeGPSTracking GPS motorcycle tracking unit work?
Answer: The BikeGPSTracking GPS motorcycle tracking unit will work in the US and Canada.
Question: What type of battery does the BikeGPSTracking unit use? Will it drain my motorcycle battery?
Answer: The BikeGPSTracking GPS motorcycle tracking unit connects to a 12 volt motorcycle battery. Power consumption averages 55mA when the unit is tracking. In sleep mode the tracking unit averages 12mA. A motorcycle battery may need to be charged if the ignition is not run within 7-14 days.
Question: What happens if my motorcycle is stolen and transported in a van or chopped in a shop? Will it be able to communicate with the GPS satellites?
Answer: If your motorcycle gets transported in a van or is in a location with a metal roof, the GPS tracking unit will have a difficult time communicating with the GPS satellite network. If the motorcycle does get moved from the van to another place, it will be able to communicate it's location. The vibration sensor will be activated if your bike is moved and the ignition doesn't run within 1 minute. You will be alerted that the bike is being moved and the unit will immediately start tracking.
Question: I installed the unit and both LED lights are on but I do not see my vehicle on the computer?
Answer: Once both lights are on you will need to drive at least 100 yards in order for the vehicle to show up on the map.
Question: Why do I see a solid orange LED light but the other light is blinking red?
Answer: Both lights should be solid. A blinking red LED means the unit is looking for a GPS signal. If your LED is blinking check to ensure you are not in an enclosed area and that your antenna did not come lose from the "A" pillar.
